Classic Park | Mercedes-Benz 350SL

The Mercedes-Benz W107 series (R107 for roadster and C107 for the coupé) was produced from 1971 to 1989. In those years nearly 237,000 were made.

Production began with the 350SL (and SLC) in 1971. In 1973, the 450 SL (C) was introduced with 225 hp (5000 rpm) and 378 Nm (3000 rpm). At the time of the Energy Crisis in 1973, Mercedes decided to introduce a fuel efficient model: the 280 SL (C) had a six-cylinder engine with 185 hp and 238 Nm (4500 rmp). In 1980, the 500 SL (C) hit the market, with a 5.0 liter and four-speed automatic transmission. After 1981 Mercedes stopped production of the SLC models.

The 350 SL was the only post-war Mercedes with a V8 engine, that during its production period (1971-1980) was equipped standard with a manual transmission, automatic transmission was available at an extra cost. The M116 engine had a capacity of 3499 cc and produced 200 hp, with a top speed of 212 km / h.
